I take photographs wherever I go. Most of the ones here are from the Canadian Rockies and Colorado, and the rest are from Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary.
Volunteer work
Beautiful Together
Beautiful Together is a nonprofit animal sanctuary and rescue in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I volunteered there as a photographer, taking portraits of rescued cats and dogs for their online profiles. Many of the animals look straight at the camera.

Glaciers and Rivers
10 photographs
The Athabasca Glacier comes down between two peaks in Jasper National Park, and a trailhead kiosk and a parked car below it look small. A braided river spreads across the gravel floor of the Sunwapta Valley under a blue sky. In Yoho National Park, the Kicking Horse River pours white through a slot in the rock at the Natural Bridge.

Mountain Lakes
16 photographs
The water at Moraine Lake and Lake Louise is calm enough to reflect the mountains. At Maroon Lake in Colorado, three geese swim through the red reflection of the Maroon Bells. Emerald Lake in Yoho is choppy, and grey cloud covers most of the sky. A boat leaves a long white wake across a lake near Banff.
Peaks and Stars
16 photographs
From the top of Sulphur Mountain, Banff and the Bow River are far below, and Cascade Mountain rises behind them. In the widest view, the town is in shade and Mount Rundle's ridge is lit orange. Longs Peak in Colorado is lit pink at the top above dark forest. A few show stars over mountains in the Canadian Rockies.
Tundra and Valleys
6 photographs
Yellow and purple flowers grow in the gravel on the Colorado tundra, and two small ponds sit among willows. Rocky tundra runs out to a steep drop. A road curves along one side of a green valley, with big clouds overhead. Smoke from a fire rises off the ridges in western Colorado.
Stone and Sand
5 photographs
Dune ridges at Great Sand Dunes run back toward forested mountains. At Garden of the Gods, red sandstone fins stand high over visitors on the path. The dark walls of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison drop to a small patch of white water. Near Banff, a layered grey mountain wall rises against bright cloud.
People and What They Built
11 photographs
Visitors on a footbridge over a canyon in the Canadian Rockies look tiny. At Mesa Verde, stone rooms and towers sit beneath a sandstone overhang. A yellow Moke is parked by brick storefronts in western Colorado. A man in an orange jacket stands on a windy dune, and a woman laughs with Longs Peak behind her.
Foxes and Birds
9 photographs
A red fox walks along a log near Maroon Lake in Colorado and looks straight into the lens. Two young foxes look out from long grass and from behind aspen trunks. A large dark bird crosses the sunlit face of the Maroon Bells, and in Rocky Mountain National Park, a Clark's nutcracker and a Steller's jay perch on branch stubs.
